About Gardengate

Gardengate is an innovative horticulture project that aims to promote healthy eating and active living for persons with mental health issues. Gardengate offers healthy living workshops and volunteer opportunities.

The Gardengate Learning Centre is managed by Open Door Group in co-operations with the Kamloops Food Policy Council. This project is made possible through the generous financial support of the Interior Health Authority.

Our Mission: Growing food and futures through diverse and supportive programs for persons with disabilities while contributing to the health and wellness of our community.

Our Vision: To promote self-confidence, self-sufficiency, community connectedness and wellness. To encourage healthy eating, safe food handling and food security. To provide access to nutritious organic vegetables. To expand the horticulture skills of all of out participants and community volunteers.

Gardengate grows over 22,000 lbs of organic produce each year, most of it being donated to food support programs in the community. The produce is also available to participants and community volunteers, used onsite in healthy living workshops, and sold at our farm-gate sales throughout the summer. Please follow us on Facebook or Instagram to stay informed about produce sales.
